How this is calculated

  • Area

    2 × (length + width) × height, plus length × width if ceiling included

  • Sheets

    area × (1 + waste %) ÷ 32 sq ft per sheet, rounded up

  • Compound

    ≈ 1 gallon of all-purpose compound per 100 sq ft (tape + 3 coats)

  • Screws

    ≈ 32 screws per sheet; ≈ 300 drywall screws per pound
